Dear Parents/Guardians,

I trust everyone had a great long weekend, enjoying the last few days of summer before fall family routines are established and the bustle of extra-curricular activities begin.  We’ve had a smooth start to the year and enrollment is stable, due to the overflow designation Elboya received at the end of June 2023.   We are Falcons first, meaning that no matter which program (Regular, Intensive, Late French or French Immersion) or grade your child is in, we all belong to one, strong and inclusive community. As such, this year, there will be particular focus on honouring the diverse perspectives our students bring, through focused cultural appreciation celebrating their unique talents, skills and needs.

With the additional smoke in the air we are reviewing the Air Quality Index and will be making adjustments to events/activities as necessary.  Facility operators will adjust HVAC to minimize fresh air exchange until the air quality advisory is lifted.

A weekly message will be sent to parents on Mondays or Tuesdays to keep you informed of school happenings.  This is a great way reference point to ask your student about Elboya’s events and activities.

Athletics Information

Please ensure your student submits the Authorization for Athletic Tryout form, which is needed to participate in any extra-curricular sport opportunities. Tryout schedules are posted across the gym office as well as on our school website.

Required Form Completion

Every September, parents are required to update required forms online, by September 22.  The forms include:

·       Demographic Verification – 2023-24 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

·       Citizenship Information Update – 2023-24 – Requires updated as needed

·       Annual Authorization – 2023-24 – This form provides consent for school and district use of personal information.

·       Student Health Plan – Is required to be completed only for students identified with significant health issues.

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc.

Allergies

In an effort to maximize student safety we will be housing all medications such as epi-pens and inhalers in the office this year.

Realistically, if an allergic reaction were to happen, it would be in the hallway, outside (over the lunch hour) under the watchful eye of lunch supervisors or in the class that is supervised by your child's classroom teacher.  That said, having the medications stored in one place that is always open establishes consistency amongst the school.  Please send your child’s medication to the office along with the completed Student Health Plan

Student Health Emergency Response Protocol should be completed by parents w>span class="contentpasted0">hen students require an intervention or emergent response to a situation such as anaphylactic shock.  Please help us keep your child safe by returning this paperwork to the school as soon as possible.

Healthy Hunger

We are pleased to be able to bring Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches back for the Grade 1-6 classes!

We will be having our FIRST fun lunch of the year on SEPT 27. All orders must be entered by Friday, Sept 22. Lunch will be delivered by volunteers to the classes at 12:33 & 12:57.
