The responsibility for items of personal property lies with the individual student. The school cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage. Students are discouraged to bring toys to school.

Combination locks are provided for safe storage of personal effects in hall lockers and physical education change rooms. Maintaining the secrecy of lock combinations goes a long way to protecting the security of possessions. Do not share locker combinations!

Bicycle racks are located on the tarmac area of the school. All bikes must be locked. Students are discouraged from bringing expensive bicycles to school. Bicycles secured outside run the risk of being damaged, vandalized or stolen.

The use of skateboards or scooters is not allowed on school premises.

Cell Phones

Smart (cell phone) devices are not permitted in classrooms. Cell phones must be left in lockers or at home. On occasion, students may be asked to bring a cell phone to class for educational purposes.

Teachers will confiscate devices used in classes without teacher permission.

  • First and second occasion: a student must see an administrator to obtain the cell phone at the end of the day.
  • Subsequent occasions: cell phones are returned to parents.

Bicycles, roller blades, scooters and skateboards must not be used on school property during school hours.

It is a student’s individual responsibility to ensure that bikes are locked onto racks as a safeguard against theft. Although the school has bike racks located on the school premises, please be informed that the school does not accept responsibility for loss, damage or theft of bicycles.

Roller blades, scooters and skateboards must not be used on school property during school hours.

Secure Storage / Loss of Valuables

It is a student’s individual responsibility to keep their valuables secured. This includes electronic devices and other valuables. Students should not bring toys to school.

Report loss of valuable to the main office. The sooner a lost item report is made, the more likely it will be found, e.g. electronic devices reported during the same period lost are usually found. Waiting means the device is not likely to be located. Limit the types of valuables brought to school to those items that are needed for learning.

Lost and Found

Students are encouraged to check the Lost and Found regularly for lost items. Parents are also asked to take a look whenever they are in the building. Prior to the winter/spring breaks and at the end of the year, all remaining items will be recycled, discarded or donated to a charitable organization.
