We take great pride in keeping a tidy school; both inside and out. We ask all our students to be good citizens by putting garbage and recycling where it belongs, and helping to keep our classrooms and playground clean.

Also, a reminder that smoking is not permitted on CBE property. Parents and family members may not smoke anywhere outside of the school. This includes sidewalks. Your cooperation is both appreciated and expected.

Use of School Equipment, Open Spaces & Play Areas

Students are expected to use school and recreational equipment appropriately. Students are expected to play safe games that will not potentially endanger themselves or others. Students are expected to respect the rights of participants in organized games and not to disrupt the activity.

Playground Rules & Expectations

As a school, we consistently review our playground rules and expectations with our students as needed throughout the school year. Please take a moment to review these with your child(ren):

  • If it looks unsafe, we will ask you to stop
  • Rocks and snow stay on the ground
  • Stay inside school boundaries at all times

No Pets on School Grounds

Parents/Guardians, please be aware that dogs as well as any other variety of household animals should not be on school grounds during school hours.

As we want to create the safest environment for students, we ask that pets are left at home when dropping off or picking up your children. We have many students that have allergies to or may not be comfortable with animals. Please help us in creating a safe environment for students.

Vandalism Policy

Vandalism means the deliberate damage or defacement of Calgary Board of Education property including buildings, grounds, equipment (including desks), and electronic information resources. Vandalism Regulation

Following an incident of damage, loss, destruction or conversion, the principal must ensure that an Accident/Vandalism Report is completed and that copies are forwarded to:

a)        Security Monitoring Centre, and

b)        Insurance/Risk Management.

When Calgary Board of Education property has been deliberately, negligently or carelessly damaged or destroyed by a student, and the student has been clearly identified, the principal will inform parents or guardians of the student in writing:

a)        That the incident occurred, and

b)        That they will receive a claim for restitution when the costs of repair and/or replacement have been determined.

Smoking, Vaping, Drugs & Alcohol, Gambling, and Other Prohibited Activities

The premises of the Calgary Board of Education are designated as smoke-free environments at all times. Smoking and vaping are prohibited by law (within sight of the school). Matches, lighters or any other paraphernalia associated with smoking and vaping should not be brought to school. Parents will be notified when a student is caught smoking and/or vaping during the school day.

Students face serious disciplinary action if they are:

  • under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • knowingly in the company of others who possess or are using drugs or alcohol and smoking and/or vaping
