Thank you to the families who were able to attend Parent-Teacher Conferences last week. We hope you feel like the feedback provided by teachers gives you a sense of how your child is performing and how you can support them at home. Families are encouraged to reach out to their child’s teacher(s) at any time as there’s no need to wait for scheduled conferences. The next round of formal feedback provided by teachers will be at the end of January for Report Cards.
Veterans Association Food Bank
From November 27 until December 20, Elboya students will be collecting food and other items for the Veterans Association Food Bank. Donation boxes will be placed in classrooms and students should add items in their homeroom/IG group’s class. Each food bank item will receive house points based on the theme for that week:
- The week of November 27 – December 1, the theme is Breakfast! Things like: pancake mix, jams, peanut butter, syrup, honey, cereal, canned or powdered milk and other related items would receive 5 points.
- The week of December 4 – December 8, the theme is Lunch! Items like: canned soup, canned fruit, fruit cups, apple sauces, ichiban/ramen noodles, crackers, instant meals – each item will receive 5 points
- The week of December 11 – 15, the theme is Dinner! Items like: tomato sauce, pasta, canned veggies, canned meats, baked beans, canned chili, rice each item receiving 5 points.
- Baby items and personal hygiene items brought in at any time will receive a MEGA bonus of 10 house points each!
Gr. 7 Enterprise & Innovation Class
The Enterprise and Innovation 7 class will be busy this month! They will be running a candy gram sale that will begin November 29th and run through December 7th. Candy canes cost a dollar each and students will be able to send them to their peers. Students must include their friend's first and last name and Homeroom class when filling out the tags to help with the delivery process. This is for Grade 1-9 students. All proceeds from this sale will be donated to the Veterans Food Bank.
They will also be holding a Winter Market in the Small Gym December 11 - 14th over the lunch hour where they will be selling a variety of items including a variety of candy, freeze dried candies and handmade jewelry items. Students are encouraged to bring cash to the gymnasium and help support our young entrepreneurs! All proceeds from the Winter Market will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Band
We are in dire need of additional support of a Treasurer from the school community. Even if you do not have a child in band, we are looking for someone with some experience in a financial/treasurer role to review our financial statements from last year and keep track of the books and occasional cheques this year. Please email Mrs. Bates at lubates@cbe.ab.ca to volunteer.
