Important Dates:

· September 24 - Welcome Back BBQ for all Elboya families takes place after school in conjunction with the Meet the Teacher night and apple pickup.

· November 3-4 – Elboya’s bi-annual casino slot. This is the MAIN fundraising event for the Fundraising Society. Around 35 volunteers will be needed to work the casino over the 2 days. No experience is necessary. See signup information below.

BBQ Night

Come on out to our Welcome Back BBQ this coming Thursday. School Council will be serving complimentary beef or veggie dogs (gluten free buns available), chips, drinks and an icy treat! The line opens at 5 pm and we hope to see you all for a fun evening!

BBQ Volunteers Needed – Especially Some Great Grillers!

We are looking for people to come out and help with the BBQ next Thursday! We need people to grill hot dogs, serve, hand out chips and ice cream treats. Shifts are short – around an hour long and you do NOT need your volunteer clearance for this event.

Urgent Call to Fill Fundraising Society Positions

For over a year now some critical roles on the Fundraising Society have been vacant. We have been informed by the AGLC that this lack of Executive members may jeopardize our ability to apply for and be assigned casinos in the future. You don’t need previous board experience to take on these rolls! It’s a great way to build community and help elevate our children’s educational experience!

· Fundraising Society President

o You don’t need fundraising experience to take on this position. Elboya’s main fundraiser is the casino. Elboya has not recently hosted a large fundraising event (such as a gala or online auction) and unless that is something you would like to lead, we generally look to smaller fundraising efforts. Come to the monthly meetings, provide oversight on the money management, become a signatory for the Society.

· Treasurer

o Requires some accounting / bookkeeping knowledge. You will need to do the banking for the Society. This component of the job would be around 1 hour a month, plus the time to attend the meetings, when scheduled (~2 hrs. a month).

o Producing the Society’s financial statements as well as completing reports for the CRA and the AGLC are part of the job.

Casino Fundraiser Volunteers Needed – Nov. 3 & 4

The casino fundraiser for Elboya School is Tuesday November 3 and Wednesday November 4 at Cowboys Casino. This is the MAIN fundraising event for the Elboya School Fundraising Society and only happens every other year. The last casino brought in ~$80,000 that has gone towards technology, residencies, and more to support our kids and our school! To make the casino happen, we need to fill 36 volunteer positions over those 2 days and nights. Each volunteer shift represents over $2000 in fundraising revenue for the school. No knowledge of gambling is needed to volunteer; all training will be provided at the casino event. A meal, snacks, and refreshments are also included for volunteers.
