School Council Updates | Sept.4, 2026

Welcome Back Elboya Families!

Each Friday you will see an email from your Elboya School Council (or Parent Council) and Fundraising Society. These are parent-led organizations that work for your school by hosting events, raising money for school activities and supplies, as well as a way for parents to voice opinions on school priorities.

Here are the upcoming events:

· Until September 9 - Order your apples for the Apple Fundraiser via this apple fundraiser link

· September 17 - The first School Council and Fundraising Society meeting. 6:30 at the school.

· September 24 - Welcome Back BBQ for all Elboya families takes place after school in conjunction with the Meet the Teacher night.

· November 3-4 - Elboya’s bi-annual casino slot. This is the MAIN fundraising event for the Fundraising Society. Around 35 volunteers will be needed to work the casino over the 2 days. No experience is necessary. Look for a signup coming in October.

Volunteers Needed

The Elboya School Council and Fundraising Society run on volunteer power! We need volunteers to make events and fundraisers work.

Urgent Call to Fill Fundraising Society Positions

For over a year now some critical roles on the Fundraising Society have been vacant. We have been informed by the AGLC that this lack of Executive members may jeopardize our ability to apply for and be assigned casinos in the future.

· Fundraising Society President

You don’t need fundraising experience to take on this position. Elboya’s main fundraiser is the casino. Elboya has not recently hosted a large fundraising event (such as a gala or online auction) and unless that is something you would like to lead, we generally look to smaller fundraising efforts. Come to the meetings, provide oversight on the money management, become a signatory for the Society.

· Treasurer

Requires some accounting / bookkeeping knowledge. You will need to do the banking for the Society.

Completing reports for the CRA and the AGLC are part of the job.

BBQ Volunteers Needed

Look for a Signup coming soon to work on the day of the event (help cook the hot dogs, distribute food, setup, cleanup, etc.). To volunteer for this event, you do NOT require volunteer clearance. So please consider donating 45 minutes or so of your time on a fun night out!
