School Council and Fundraising Society Meeting – October 17 The next Elboya School Council and Fundraising Society meeting will be held next Thursday October 17 in the Learning Commons at 6:30 PM. All parents are welcome to attend! See the agenda and meeting minutes from last month’s meeting. Jacket Racket – Starts October 18. Each year Elboya School participates in Jacket Racket, a volunteer organization that collects, sorts and distributes gently used, clean, winter jackets, snow pants, hats and mittens to Calgary children through the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District. From October 18 until November 22, a box will be set up inside the main doors of the school for collection. We are asking parents and students to donate gently used, warm winter jackets, snow pants, hats and mittens (no boots), in all sizes (from small sizes for young kids in Kindergarten to large sizes for teens in Grade 12). We encourage you to generously support this worthy project. Last year, Jacket Racket distributed close to 2000 coats to needing families! Please visit http://www.jacketracketcalgary.com or contact Sarah Simms at sarahasimms@me.com for further details or if you have any questions. Band Fundraising. There was an error in last week's parent message: There will NOT be a bottle drive this month. Bottle drives will be next February and May: Band Volunteer Sign Up Genius . We do currently have a band 50/50 fundraiser which will close on Dec. 19! Please join in through this link: https://www.rafflebox.ca/raffle/elboyaband2024. NEW – Fun Lunches for Junior High Students. In addition to the monthly pizza lunch, we have added a monthly Fun Lunch option for the Junior High Students this year. The Fun Lunch will be October 22. Order your child’s lunch via https://healthyhunger.ca/ website and it will be delivered to them in their Homeroom on lunch day. When you sign up, be sure to link them to their Homeroom Teacher, that way delivery runs smoother for our volunteers. Returning users – Login to your account and add your child, linking them to the correct Homeroom Teacher. New Users – You will first have to create an account on https://healthyhunger.ca/. Search for Elboya in the school drop down list. A list of teachers will be associated with our school. Link your child’s name to their Homeroom Teacher. If you need assistance with creating your account or have any questions, please contact Lisa at elboyashcool.chair@gmail.com Important Note: Only persons with a completed police check can volunteer in the school. If you are unsure of the status of your police security check, please reach out to Sarah Kryczka sokryczka@cbe.ab.ca to verify your status. If you don’t have your clearance set up, please do so! It is a requirement for you to volunteer in the school and is good for 5 years. |
