Our Complementary Course Showcase next Thursday, June 5 (4:30-5:30) is a platform to highlight creativity, skills, and hard work.  This is an opportunity for parents and younger students to see the types of courses offered at Elboya and for students to showcase their work.  Career and Technology Foundations (CTF) allows students to explore their interests and passions as they learn about various career possibilities and occupational areas. Come see projects (i.e. Robotics, Construction, Art, Fashion, Tourism, etc.) and performances in Band & Drama.  A schedule is forthcoming.

Jr. Science Day

On Friday, Grade 8 students all enjoyed a fun-filled day out at Calaway Park for Junior Science Day. Students examined the rides to understand how several simple machines, such as levers, gears, inclined and pulleys, combine to make more complex systems. They saw examples of potential energy and kinetic energy in the rollercoaster and how pneumatic and hydraulic systems provided power, control, and safety features for many of the rides. Made for a great day of learning.

GAUSS Math Competition

A big congratulations to the 44 Grade 8 students who elected to write the University of Waterloo GAUSS math competition last week. The Gauss Mathematics Contest is an annual event organized by the University of Waterloo and the Canadian Mathematics and Computer Education Center (CEMC). It's a multiple-choice math competition designed to challenge students with problems that go beyond their typical school curriculum. The contest aims to encourage mathematical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Congratulations to Elboya’s Maxine A, Eamon M, Marion B and Aleks W. for top scores. Way to go Elboya!

School Council Positions for 2025-26

With the new configuration of Elboya in the fall to a Gr. 4-9 school, we are looking for parents to volunteer their time on the School Council.  We rely greatly on the dedication of our parent volunteers to lead many of our initiatives and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support and involvement. Please consider taking on a role to support our greater school community.  Email elboyaschool.chair@gmail.com or alavdicos@cbe.ab.ca to inquire about possible opportunities.   Merci beaucoup!

Wishing everyone a sunny, happy week.
