With February coming to an end this week, families are reminded that there is no school for students on Friday. March will be another busy month of activities and events for students: field trips, Culture Day, volleyball finals, Food Bank Drive, Gr. 7-9 dance, Parent-Teacher Conferences, etc. Please refer to our school website for our monthly calendar and new stories.
No Facility Operators
As you may have heard, the CUPE strike starts on Monday, which directly impacts schools as we will be without Facility Operators during the school day. The volleyball season will continue but all other athletics and evening events are on hold for now. Please help us by reminding students of our core values to care for self, one another and our school as we will all need to do our part to ensure a quality experience for everyone.
School Engagement Survey
We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. Last week this survey went live. Please click here to take a few minutes to share your thoughts about our school planning, budget and fees. The survey will remain open until March 5.
Pink Shirt Day – Feb. 26
In response to a new Grade 9 student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt, two Nova Scotia high school students took a stand against bullying by distributing pink shirts to all the boys in their school to wear. This act of kindness has grown into a symbol against bullying in schools across the globe. Join us on Wednesday February 26 by wearing a pink shirt and taking a stand against bullying!

If you’re able to help with setup and takedown in the gym from 12:15-1:30, please email Mme Avdicos (alavdicos@cbe.ab.ca).
Elboya School Food Drive: March 3-18
Elboya School is hosting a food drive starting next week from March 3-18 to support the Calgary Food Bank in their mission to make food accessible to everyone in our community. We encourage students and families to bring in non-perishable food donations starting the week of March 3. Each classroom will have a designated donation box. This idea was brought forward by Student Voice Council in an effort to make a difference beyond our Elboya community.
