December is Human Rights Month. Throughout the month, we will be celebrating Elboya’s diverse community by highlighting and recognizing the many special events and observances that are meaningful to our families, such as Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice, and others that are important within our school community.

Band

Grade 8, 9, and Jazz Band will perform for their families on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 2:30pm in the school gym. This week's band rehearsals will be for Grade 9: Tuesday at lunch, Grade 8: Wednesday at lunch. Gr. 7 Band will rehearse Tuesday mornings at 8:10am until Winter Break.

Donate to the band program at any time of year by bringing your refundables to the Manchester Bottle Depot (410 38A Avenue SE) and telling them that you're with the Elboya School Band.

Enterprise and Innovation 7 would like to thank all of those who supported the Winter Market and Candygrams this week! Together we raised approximately $1000.00 for the Veterans Food Bank!

LEGO Lunch Club begins December 11 will be happening every Thursday at lunch, for Gr. 4-6, in the Art Room through the winter months!

Students will have the opportunity to build, design, and work together on fun LEGO challenges in a warm, welcoming space.  We’re also still collecting LEGO donations! If your family has gently used pieces to share, we’d love to add them to our club collection. Thanks for your support!

PE

All grade 6-9 classes are starting a one-week health module on Monday. The unit will cover risks, influences and substance abuse.

Athletics

Wrestling tournament will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Good luck wrestlers!

All soccer, basketball and wrestling team members are invited to pizza lunch in the gym on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

High School Open House Info

Western Canada High School will be hosting an Open House opportunity on Tuesday, January 27 from 3:30-5:00 pm for current grade 9 students/families who might be interested in learning more about the school’s option programming (prior to guidance visits and course selection in February).  Grade 9 Tours for direct feeder schools will take place earlier that day, as well, so many students will also be able to visit the school in that capacity.  More information about course programming for 2026/27 will be available on the WCHS website after the winter break.  Any general questions about registration can be directed to the main office at 403-228-5363.  Thank you.
