Greetings Elboya Families,

 

It is with great pleasure that we open our doors to welcome students on Monday, August 31, for the 2026-27 School Year.  Staff have been busily preparing to receive students and are looking forward to establishing strong partnerships with families.  A big shout out to our Administrative Assistant Team, Teaching Staff and Facility Operating Staff who have all been instrumental in each of their roles to prepare for the start of another School Year.  Merci beaucoup!

 

Before Monday morning, families should have received a message from their child(ren)’s teacher(s) with important information, including where to meet them on the first day of school.  Grade 5 & 6 students will be greeted by teachers outside holding signs with their names on them while Grade 7-9 teachers will welcome students in the building at their Homeroom class. To develop student independence and avoid congestion at the entrances, we encourage parents to say goodbye to their child(ren) outside and remind them of pick-up location after school.  Thank you for your support!

 

Transportation

For the students who are bussed, families can access route information via their MyCBE / PowerSchool. Elboya will have 5 busses this year.  Please ensure that you tell your child which bus route letter they should be riding to/from school as well as which stop to get off at.  If your child is riding the bus, please email Ms. Sarah (sokryczka@cbe.ab.ca) with the information above so we can support students until their routine is established.

 

Below are some safety reminders and information to our community:

  • Parking is not permitted in the Staff Parking Lot.  Please use the “Hug & Go” on 47 Ave or park by the playground along 6 St.  Do not park in front of the school as it is a Bus Zone.
  • We have a “soft” entry, meaning the morning bell will ring at 9:00 am for all students to proceed to their locker or classroom.  Once the students hear the exterior bell, they should enter the building and proceed directly to their classroom.  Please respect that entry into the school does not begin before 9:00 am.

 

Recognizing we are entering a new school year with many returning and new families, we wanted to share some school information for your to review with your student.  It is beneficial for students to hear the information from both home and school as it helps reinforce messaging.  Teachers will be reviewing these expectations with students next week. We appreciate our partnership!

 

Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs)/Cell Phones – AWAY FOR THE DAY POLICY

Students will not be permitted to enter the school on their devices nor use their devices during break times such as nutrition and lunch.  Should students in Grade 7-9 wish to use their devices over lunch, they will have to go off school property. 

These rules will apply to all students, with exceptions for students using devices for health and medical needs, to support specialized learning needs and for educational purposes. Please contact Ms. Cooper (lscooper@cbe.ab.ca) if this case applies to your student.

Involvement of Parents and Guardians - Parent Volunteers

Annual Volunteer Registration Required for All School Volunteers

  • To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must be registered with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities. The Annual Volunteer Registration Form is valid for the current school year only. All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new registration form each school year before participating in volunteer activities.

Process

  • Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the POPA requirements and sign to indicate their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form.

 

Lastly, mark your calendars for our Meet the Teacher & Welcome Back BBQ on Sept. 24.  This a great community building event and apple fundraiser.  More details to follow.
