Our Programs

Regular Program at the CBE

Even though most of our schools offer a regular program, no two are quite the same. All schools teach according to Alberta Education’s mandated curriculum, however a school’s focus, optional courses and school activities are as unique as every school.

Achievement at Elboya School

Students of Elboya School have long held a reputation for being exemplary citizens, dedicated learners, strong visual and performing artists, athletes and positive people. Success is due to a combination of each student's talent, skill, commitment and hard work along with support from parents, teachers and peers.

Homework

There are two significant variables that positively affect student achievement: regular attendance and assignment completion. Homework may include:

Section 2 of the Calgary Board of Education Administrative Regulation 3066 – Homework states: “The assignment of formal exercises for completion is the prerogative of the teacher, but every encouragement shall be given to pupils (and parents) to set aside some regular time each evening for home study.”

The Administrative Regulation also states:

“The nature and amounts of home study recommended are as follows:

  • K to Grades 3 – No formal assignments shall be made, but from 5 to 10 minutes of systematic study per night is recommended.
  • Grades 4-6 – Up to 20 minutes/night
  • Grades 7 to 9:-In the junior high school level, students are expected to study from 30 min to 1 hour per school night.”

Late Assignment Policy

Students are responsible to:

  • organize their time and work
  • submit assignments in a timely manner
  • discuss any extraordinary circumstances with their teacher before the assignment is due
  • meet with their teacher and propose a solution if assignments are incomplete
