Please be guided by the following:

  • Students and parents cross carefully at designated crosswalks and never walk between parked buses or cars. Please cross at the corners, at 47th and 48th Avenues and 6th Street.
  • Parents need to park and drive around the school with great care, especially at peak times before and after school. Drop off where permitted.
  • Please respect our neigbours who live by the school. Do not block driveways or alleys. Never stop in the middle of a driving lane to pick up children.
  • Use care in crossing Elbow Drive and 50th Avenue—always at the lights when on “Walk” or at Crosswalks with lights. Pedestrians need to make eye contact with drivers.
  • Students are encouraged to walk to and from school with siblings or with other Elboya students.
  • Skateboarding is not permitted on CBE property. Elboya community drivers have expressed concerns about students’ skateboarding. Parents may permit a student to skateboard to and from school. However, skateboarding during lunch hour on school property or on the roads is not acceptable. Bicycling and scooters are not to be used on Elboya School property.

Hug and Go Lane

To improve traffic flow by our school we have introduced

a new Hug and Go Lane. This allows parents to drop off

or pick up their students quickly and safely beside the

school and prevents others from parking in this lane. You

will find this on the North side of the school.

  • IMPORTANT: Please note - If students are at the school before 8:55 a.m. or after 3:44 p.m. and not involved in a teacher-sponsored activity, supervision is not provided, and the doors remain closed.
  • Note: Students must make driving arrangements with parents BEFORE signing up for extra- curricular activities.

Designated Meeting Location

Parents and students are asked to discuss and agree on a designated meeting spot outside the school.

Student Supervision

Our school has student supervision at set times. Visit our Security page for more information.

Staff Parking Lot

Parents should not enter the parking lot designated for staff members at any time. Due to safety reasons, the Calgary Board of Education does not allow students to be dropped off in a parking lot. Students should be dropped off at the “Hug & Go” area on 47 street. Students can also be dropped off on 6 St closer to the playground. The area directly in front of the main school entrance is reserved as a bus zone.
