Personal Electronic Device Policy

Parents, please remind your student(s) of the strict policy in place as mandated by Alberta Education.

  • Students are not permitted to enter the building on their devices.
  • Devices should be put into lockers – Away For The Day and not to be used during nutrition or lunch break.
  • Students will need to go off school property to use their devices at lunch.

Away for the day unless:

Teacher requests it for class

If a student is found to be in violation of the PEDs/Cell phone policy:

First Offence - The student takes PED/Cell to the office. The student will pick up the device at the end of the day.

Further offence - Device is brought to the office and will only be surrendered to a legal guardian.

NB - This policy is reviewed for students requiring PED for medical conditions, IPP or EAL.

How can parents/guardians and students contact each other during the school day? If parents need to communicate with their child during the school day, they can do so by contacting the school office. The office will facilitate contact with students during the school day when needed. If students need to contact their parents/guardians during the school day, they can do so through the school office or with permission from teachers or administrators. Parents are asked to refrain from contacting their child/student on personal mobile devices during the school day to avoid interrupting or distracting students from learning activities.

Athletic Tryouts

Athletic activities will be starting up this month for students in Grades 6-9.  Keep up to date with tryouts on our school calendar.

Physical Education

The Phys. Ed. team is excited for the year ahead. A friendly reminder all students are required to bring athletic footwear to wear during Phys. Ed such as running shoes.  Grade 6-9 students can find their unit of study by checking their Phys. Ed Google Classrooms. We ask students to ensure they are properly dressed for the weather when they are participating in outdoor units.

IPP Information

For families who have student(s) with IPPs, more information will be forthcoming by the end of the week.  If you haven’t received any information by Friday, please email Ms. Cooper (lscooper@cbe.ab.ca).
