As the holiday season approaches, it is an ideal time to reflect on just how fortunate we are to be part of our Elboya learning community. We have healthy and happy students, generous parents and dedicated school staff who work together to provide quality education for all. The most effective way to teach children to be responsible, caring and compassionate citizens is to model the behaviour ourselves. Donating winter clothing to Jacket Racket and helping those less fortunate through the Veteran's Food Drive and Family Hampers are good initiatives for students to learn about empathy, generosity, kindness and compassion.
Upon the return from the winter break, teachers will be evaluating students' academic progress over the first term. Assessments take many forms such as observations, conversation and products (projects, assignments, etc.). Included in this process are self-assessments conducted by students providing input and ownership of their learning. By the end of January, parents can expect to see a report card that reflects an accurate snapshot of their child's progress, without any surprises.
In the spirit of generosity and collaboration, thank you to our dedicated staff and supportive parents for the amazing work you do for our students! We wish everyone a wonderfully relaxing upcoming winter break.
